Servings: 1
An inspiration from the very popular Aperol Spritz, this cocktail combines Mexico’s spectacular Ancho Reyes chile liqueur (widely available in good liquor stores and on line) with orange liqueur and sparkling wine. Lacking the special liqueur, you could simply make an Aperol Spritz (2 ounces Aperol and 4 ounces sparkling wine over ice) and rim the glass with Tajín for a little spicy sparkle.

INGREDIENTS

  • A generous 1/2 cup of ice cubes
  • 1 1/2 ounces Ancho Reyes chile liqueur
  • 3/4 ounce orange liqueur (Curaçao, Combier or Cointreau are delicious here)
  • 3 ounces sparkling wine like Spanish cava
  • A half wheel of orange

INSTRUCTIONS

Scoop the ice cubes into a white wine glass, pour in the Ancho Reyes and orange liqueur, top with the sparkling wine and gently stir to combine.  Nestle in the orange and serve.
